Syd’Quan Thompson Highlights
Tags: Syd'quan ThompsonNot that we should be surprised by this, but watch list after watch list keep getting released and Cal keeps getting shut out. This is a big change from last summer, when it seemed like I was getting press releases every day with more news that a Cal player was on a watch list.
Cal had [...]
Well, then. Our running YouTube Thursday routine has been going for quite a while now and we have yet to show off what is easily America’s #1 greatest resource:
The California Marching Band. Time Magazine proclaimed them as the Best Damn Band In The Land. The Beatles called them “bigger than Jesus.”
Let’s get this party started with what may be one of the Marshawnthusiasts for this …
With the beginning of training camp now just a few days away, let’s lookat some of the intriguing position battles that will take place this fall:
–Quarterback. Duh. We all know this will be the most closely watched competition as fifth-year senior Nate Longshore tries to keep his job away from redshirt sophomore Kevin Riley. Coach [...]
ESPN.com’s Ted Miller posted a Q&A with Cal linebacker Worrell Williams today. Nothing groundbreaking, but still good stuff. One interesting note is Williams thinks that Eddie Young will be the fourth linebacker in the new 3-4 defense. Based on last year, I would think it would be Mike Mohamed, who is listed as the starter [...]

Well, then. If this Better Know An Olympian is anything like it’s namesake, it’ll be incredibly dated in 30 years. But if this Better Know An Olympian is anything like all the other shlock I write, it’ll be an insult not only to the fine men and women who represent Cal in the games, but also …
EDSBS Live had this radio special from a few weeks back dedicated to wine analogies for football teams, and although I could barely tell (my knowledge of wines is basically what I did when I got a C on my homework) what the wines were (Here are some sample answers from an Ole Miss fan). Tags: football, pac-10Stephan Volker is not a man for reasonable discourse. He is a man of bluster and histrionics. After Cal received the favorable ruling, he had this to say:
Volker said he is confident of eventual victory. “I have prosecuted over 100 appeals, and prevailed in about 85 percent of them,” he said.
Hmmm. Sounds impressive. 100 appeals. 85% success rate. Maybe this isn’t just bluster, …
No tag for this post.Former Cal WR Robert Jordan was released yesterday by the 49ers. Apparently, Jordan is dealing with a death in his family and needs the time off. There is a chance Jordan could return to the team as a practice squad player.

–Here’s a story from the Detroit Free-Press about quarterback Brian Hoyer. Hmmm…think Nate Longshore can relate?
–MSU tailback Javon Ringer expects to reach the end zone more this season.
–More from the Free-Press: Spartans coach Mark Dantonio isn’t shy about predicting that his team could be in [...]
Stumbled upon a pretty cool video of Cal QB Nate Longshore working out with this season’s prospective starting wide receivers Nyan Boateng, Michael Calvin, Jeremy Ross, and Cal’s presumed starting running back Jahvid Best.

The spread-option? That was sooooo 2003. If you’ve gotta have the latest and greatest offensive innovation, the one that will soon change the game of football, you’ve gotta have the A-11 Offense. Tags: Baseball, BCS, football, Kevin Riley, Nate LongshoreFor those trying to sift through the legal proceedings regarding the student-athlete center at Cal, here’s the situation: Both the Panaromic Hill Association and Save the Oaks have appealed Judge Barbara Miller’s ruling to lift the injunction against beginning construction. The appeal was filed Thursday, and with it comes an automatic 20-day extension for the [...]
No tag for this post.Catching up on ESPN.com’s Ted Miller’s Pac-10 position rankings: He rates all three of Cal’s returning starting linebackers in the top-10 — Zack Follett at No. 3, Worrell williams at No. 5 and Anthony Felder at No. 8. Miller picks Bernard Hicks at No. 10 among safeties and Syd’Quan Thompson eighth at cornerback.
Cal has added to its offensive line depth for the upcoming season by securing an oral commitment from Diablo Valley College product Donovan Edwards.
Edwards, who played at Pinole Valley High School, committed to UCLA last month. But he took a recruiting trip to Cal last weekend, was offered a scholarship and he changed his mind.
The Bears [...]
